A plush, synthetic lawn has transformed Lincoln Center's main plaza into an inviting civic space just in time for summer lounging! THE GREEN, an installation by designer Mimi Lien, includes turf-clad arches, built-in seating and tables, and swooping sides. This lawn is part of Lincoln Center's Restart Stages, an initiative to kickstart the performing arts sector and New York City's revival. It will consist of 10 outdoor spaces and rehearsal spaces as a welcoming and safe place for live performances, family activities, and civic engagement.
Visiting the THE GREEN is the perfect outing for so many occasions – a unique date, catching up with a friend, a solo hang with a good book, or a fun destination to bring your kids. Grab a snack at Nuchas Empanadas, which is nestled under one of the arches, a free book (courtesy of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts), and catch a pop-up outdoor performance! Let me tell you, the installation truly emanates energy, innovation, and hope – I got a little emotional seeing my fellow New Yorkers enjoying themselves.
P.S. - It's dog friendly!
